Registration

Do I need to register my second year ECTs again on ECT Manager?

No. As long as the ECT/s remain at your school the registration will continue for the induction period.

How soon do I need to register my ECT?

ECTs should be registered in the short term before they begin their induction so that all checks can be carried out by the Appropriate Body. A delay in this could mean that induction will not start until the next term at the earliest.

I can’t register my ECT as they have not yet got their TRN, when is the deadline?

All students are allocated their TRN at the point when they start Initial Teacher Training (ITT). They should ask their ITT provider to send it to them again, or you can check on the teacher Self Service Portal online. https://teacherservices.education.gov.uk/SelfService/Login

I have registered my ECT on ECT Manager, does this mean I have registered for the Early Career Framework (ECF) as well?

No.

I have registered my ECT on the DfE portal, so does this mean I have registered with the Appropriate Body too?

No, you have to register for Appropriate Body Services separately.

My ECT’s registration form says “Awaiting Authorisation” on ECT Manager – what does this mean?

It means that you have done everything you need to do. The Appropriate Body will register the ECT with the TRA and then the ECT can start their induction.

When registering my ECT it says that “Checked but does not have QTS” – what does this mean?

It usually means that their QTS has not yet been ratified by their ITT provider: college/SCITT/HEI/SD. This can sometimes take until mid-August. As long as the TRN and DOB are correct it will finally show the QTS date and then the message will read “Awaiting Authorisation” until the AB has completed it checks and authorised the ECT to the TRA
